Re: Instagram Is Trying To Kill TikTok
And they just started
Hey guys - I wanted to write this quick impromptu newsletter to tell you about something that I think shows exactly where Instagram is heading! (also we will be ahead of the curve on all of this at Social Commerce Club)
Instagram is trying to KILL TikTok (again)
Also… TLDR - would you accept 50k/mo to be ostracized from your community?? 😆🤷♂️
Here are the details 👇
Meta is making a significant push to bring TikTok creators to Instagram Reels by offering exclusive contracts worth up to $300,000 over six months.
Here’s why this strategy is insane…
✅ Key Highlights of the Deal
Creators can earn between $2,500 to $50,000 per month, with top-tier contracts reaching $300,000. (Like what??)
Exclusive Content: 🤯 (say goodbye to all of your cool friends)
Participants MUST post exclusive short-form videos on Instagram Reels for at least three months before sharing them elsewhere.
Here are the Posting Commitments 👇
10 new Reels per month
2 Reels shared as Instagram Stories
Daily engagement with followers (comments, shares, etc.)
Bi-monthly promotions of Instagram content on TikTok or YouTube (oh dude - your contemporaries will hate you 😆)
With TikTok’s future in the U.S. uncertain, Meta aims to attract creators away from TikTok and strengthen Instagram Reels.
Also… get this!!!
Most contracts require promoting Instagram on other platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat.
Will they take the bait?? (I wouldn’t btw 😆🤷♂️)
While many influencers are attracted by the financial rewards, others are hesitant due to these strict posting requirements and exclusivity clauses.
Why This Matters for you as a brand owner👇👇
Meta is (attempting) to position Instagram Reels as the premier platform for short-form video
If TikTok goes away, Insta is poised to absorb its creator base. (Maybe)
These lucrative deals tell me meta is desperate!!.
Here’s The Bottom Line👇
Meta isn’t even trying to hide this…
They also know that to compete they will need to get real life creators - not infeluncers who pretend to live one way, and make everyone feel bad about themselves 🤷♂️
Tiktok is here to stay and Zuck knows it
Mark my words - INSTA will make a HUGE push on social commerce this year but will have a hard time keeping up to TikTok shop’s momentum.
Ps… if you’re interested in talking about how your brand can scale on TikTok shop and social commerce - you should definitely chat with our team at SCC.
Until next time!
