It all happened in a penthouse in Vegas…
Best way to start a newsletter haha?
Haha but actually, I was at Shoptalk in Vegas this March going to every single event that I could (this 38-year-old needed some recovery time after that week haha).
I decided to go to the penthouse event that PostPilot was putting on (shoutout to PostPilot btw!) which is where I met Shaan Arora + Cory Gill who wanted to tell me about their new pop-up.
TBH I wasn’t really that interested to hear about just another pop-up. I was happy with recommending Amped as the best solution in E-comm but i figured I would hear them out.
The premise was simple
Customers that go to an “about us” page generally convert higher and have a higher AOV than customers who don’t!
One more time…
Customers who are educated on the things that make your brand special BECOME your best customers… it’s not an accident. When they know what makes you special you go from “product” to “brand”
So they went out to build a pop-up that incentivized customers learning about what makes a brand special. (you have to check it out to see HOW they do it!)
Then they told me that Harley Finkelstein (President of Shopify) was using it on his store Firebelly tea…
The conversation went from curiosity to excitement on my part.
This was like nothing ANYONE had built yet - and from a customer psychology perspective (which is all we think about at upGrowth Commerce) it made more sense than any pop-up I’ve ever seen.
Obviously I am obsessed with telling EVERYONE about this tool… why?
Results obviously
Here’s a case study from a brand that recently made the switch…
Urban Smokehouse, a BBQ DTC brand, switched to Alia’s popup (from the basic Klaviyo Pop-up).
Resulted in $100K+ extra monthly sales.
Sign-ups increased by 184%. (this alone makes the difference IMO!)
20% of shoppers who signed up made a purchase immediately.
Popup now drives 1/3 of total revenue.
CEO was skeptical but became a huge fan in 3 weeks.
Again… my main reason for sharing tools like this is for them to be compelled to put me on their CAP table haha (semi-joking).
